The Department of Assessment’s role involves assessing the value of each property as of the taxable status date, January 1st of each tax year.

These assessments are based on property data collected by Assessment staff during
the most recent property inspection. While Assessment relies on these data for property evaluation purposes, their inclusion
does not by itself convey compliance with other laws and 
regulations, including, but not limited to, the City of Syracuse Zoning 
Rules and Regulations, the Syracuse Property Conservation Code, and the 
Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.
